In Session With Marc David: Changing Our Minds About Our Bodies
Manage episode 317279039 series 2394110
Changing Our Minds About Our Bodies
Arina, 33, arrives at her coaching session with Marc David with several challenges with food she would like to transform: anxiety that she spends much of her day thinking about food, fast eating habits, food cravings, and a dislike of certain parts of her body. Tune into Marc’s transformational conversation with Arina, and find answers to your own eating challenges. Key Insights:- Arina, a 33-year-old mother, wishes she could change some parts of her body and cut down on sweet foods and cravings. She wants to make sure she and her family eat healthy and worries that her cravings and eating habits are interfering with her deeper desires for good health.
- Marc David urges Arina to move away from the sort of perfectionism that so many women in their 30s have. He advises her to start embracing herself and her body rather than judging and punishing herself for what she perceives as personal flaws.
- Marc reminds Arina that the people who love her, do so just as she is. Her son, for instance, doesn’t love her based on the way she looks. Arina must learn to love herself as unconditionally as others in her life love her.
- Sweet cravings are natural, and there’s truly nothing wrong with enjoying the experience of eating sweet things. Limiting and regulating our sugar intake is important, but it’s also vital to allow ourselves pleasure in eating. If you’re eating sweets (or any other foods) and feeling guilty, it’s a good moment for self-reflection. Why eat something if you’re going to feel guilty, and why feel guilty if you’ve decided to eat something when you can instead open up to the pleasure that food provides?
- Fast eating is a common habit, and it often signals that we’re “checking out” of the body. To begin to change this habit, check back in. Notice how your food tastes, and tune into your thoughts and emotions. That’s the first step to slowing down and eating more mindfully.
