Dr. Christen Scott, our guest speaker for this episode, is a Psychologist and has been an entrepreneur in the health and wellness industry for over twenty years. In 1999, she received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford and worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, partial hospital, community mental health, and residential treatment facilities.
In 2003, after being exposed to her first power yoga class, Dr. Scott immediately experienced the emotional and mental benefits of the practice, and was drawn to the peace of mind she felt. After receiving extensive training in yoga and meditation in 2010, she closed her private psychotherapy practice and moved to South Florida with her husband, Preston Scott. Together, they operated and taught at their yoga studio, the Power Yoga Tribe, in North Palm Beach from 2012 through 2019. After that, she founded the Yoga Shrink, which addresses mental health issues and personal development through yoga philosophy and mindfulness.
The passing of her husband in 2021 led her to a journey of healing from grief to a deep spiritual awakening. Her current work is focused around helping people heal their grief as well as heal their relationship with life and death, incorporating more energetic and indigenous practices into her work.
