When we get caught up in our own selfish desires, a lot of times we are operating out of fear, greed, envy and ego. Our energy is not where it should be which guarantees we will attract things we don't want. However, working towards goals and ambitions with a sense of optimism, gratitude, detachment and Faith will bring us exactly where we need to be in the long run. Being detached from immediate results while enjoying the process and journey of life is where freedom is found. There will be things that happen in life and outcomes you might not like, but you will see how it all played a necessary part in the journey at a later time.
