Trauma Therapy vs. Trauma-informed Coaching with Kathy Kinghorn
Manage episode 377695221 series 3379165
Kathy Kinghorn has been a trauma therapist for over 13 years, and was a facilitator in my first Advanced Relationship Trauma Certification for Coaches. In this conversation, we discuss the differences and similarities between trauma therapy and trauma coaching and touch on when’s the right time for one or the other. For some, coaching might be the thing that prepares someone for therapy. For others, therapy might come before coaching and sometimes people can benefit from both. We also talk about the disconnect between some therapists and coaches and how we envision that relationship between the two professions in the future. Our goal is what’s in the best interest for our clients’ healing and growth.
In this episode we discuss:
- The difference between trauma therapy and trauma coaching
- When’s the right time for working with a coach
- Recognizing that healing isn’t linear
- The importance of safety
- How we envision the relationship between therapists and coaches
- Hierarchies and barriers to entry
- How a collaborative effort can be in the BEST interest of our clients.
- What really matters when it comes to sustainable healing.
