Ep 27 Essential oil recipes for eczema
Manage episode 366842895 series 3416234
In this episode I'll share an aromatherapy recipe for eczema that is simple but very effective.
If you'd rather read it, here's the blog post
The essential oils
- Bergamot is anti-inflammatory. It's a very good painkiller, and it's fantastic for stress. If you've listened to other episodes, you'd probably know that I call Bergamot the little oil of stress.
- Lavender is also anti-inflammatory and painkilling, and it speeds up healing. I call Lavender the Leonardo da Vinci of essential oils because it's great for everything.
- Chamomile is also anti-inflammatory and painkilling. In fact, Chamomile is probably one of the most anti-inflammatory oils available.
To make up a cream for eczema
You’ll need a teaspoon and a half of a cream of your choice, preferably one that has no aroma. And to that, you would add two drops each of Bergamot, Lavender and Chamomile. Mix the ingredients together well.
If you're making a blend for a child, you would add one drop each of Bergamot, Lavender and Chamomile.
Contraindications to the oils
Bergamot should not be used on skin that will be exposed to bright sunlight or a sunbed within 48 hours, it can cause severe burns.
Lavender and Chamomile should not be used by pregnant women. There is an outside chance that they could bring on a period. Although (as far as I'm aware) there are no known cases of essential oils ever having caused harm to a mother or a baby, it’s always best to err on the side of caution.
