'Dictionary of Ecological Economics' (Books! Books! Books!)
Manage episode 364732064 series 3326526
Interview with Barry Solomon, Co-author. The host for this show is Mihaela Stoops. The guest is Barry Solomon.
Our language evolves with us and with the complexity of our life. The 'Dictionary of Ecological Economics' thoroughly explains over 1100 terms for the new millennium. We briefly discuss what ecological economics means and its difference with conventional economics. We discuss where ecology and economics meet and how it applies to Hawai'i. Although the dictionary was edited by Brent M Haddad and Barry Solomon, numerous distinguished scholars contributed to writing the definitions. We review what type of research one has to do to be able to compile a dictionary, particularly in a new area of expertise. Last, but not least, we question how artificial intelligence will impact the process of generating new terms and their definitions.
