The second annual Braille Challenge to be held in South Carolina will take place at the State Library's Talking Book Services Library on Thursday, February 4, 2010; South Carolina's first winner of the "I Love My Librarian Award" presented annually by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and by the New York Times to only 10 librarians nationally is Georgetown County Library Director Dwight McInvaill; After a successful year and a half assignment as interim dean of Francis Marion University's James A. Durant has been promoted to dean, effective Jan. 1; The South Carolina State Library is proud to be one of the partners in the upcoming Southern Independent Bookseller's Alliance Southern Social Networking Summit; This edition's featured web site is www.siba.org. SIBA, which is the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance, is a trade association which represents over 300 bookstores and thousands of booksellers in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia and Mississippi.
