Episode 11 - The Story, Act 6: New Creation

In this sixth and final episode of The Story of the Bible series, this episode focuses on the Act 6 New Creation that Scripture points towards and how one day this reality will come into being, as all things are made new and God's Kingdom fully permeates all of creation.

After intros and coffee talk (0:00-4:53), the guys recap the story leading up to the Act 6 New Creation, including the storyline of the human vocation and God's sacred space (4:54-12:53). After this recap, they kick off their discussion of New Creation and how Scripture paints the picture of the end of this first story but the beginning of the next, starting with Revelation 21's picture of the new heavens and the new earth, and how we are called to be people here and now that point to the New Creation and the way that the world will one day be when Jesus reigns in full (12:54-20:44). Next, they talk about the influence of Platonism on the early church and the Greek philosophy idea that our physical bodies are inherently bad, but how the Bible supports the idea that our bodies are very good (20:45-22:16). They then discuss what it means when Paul says that in Christ we are already a new creation, and what Paul means when he says that Jesus was the first-fruits of New Creation. They also discuss what it means to be people of New Creation now (22:17-29:28). After briefly talking about the confidence we have that the entire storyline of the Act 2 Fall won't take place again (29:29-32:23), they also touch on how it's our job now to herald and announce the coming of the King - Jesus (32:24-34:28). Finally, they conclude with a conversation on how we communicate and represent the end of the story in our lives today and how we are called to learn the language of New Creation and speak it here and now, ending with a quote by C.S. Lewis on what to expect in the New Creation.
