In CPR training scenarios, it’s vital to simulate real-life situations as closely as possible. This includes practicing on manikins that represent different body types. Research indicates that bystander CPR is significantly less likely to be performed on women, partly due to concerns about touching the breasts and the need to modify clothing to use a defibrillator effectively.

First, ensure you have the female skin ready and the manikin positioned where you can easily access the sides. Begin by unfastening the clips located on the sides of the manikin; there are three clips on each side. Once all clips are undone, gently lift the current skin off the manikin.

Next, take the female skin and drape it over the manikin. While doing this, ensure the internal lung bag is flat and correctly positioned. Align the skin with the pegs on the manikin’s body. It might be helpful to slightly tilt the manikin’s head back to fit the skin properly around the neck area.

Once the skin is aligned, snap the clips on each side to secure the skin in place. Make sure to check that the skin fits snugly around the base of the manikin and that there are no gaps where the skin could detach.

Finally, verify that the airway opens correctly. This step is crucial as it ensures that the manikin will function properly during training, allowing for realistic simulation of airway management techniques.
