If We are a Battleship then we are occasionally under fire. What does a spiritual attack look like? You struggle with random thoughts that go against Biblical teaching. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. Sign #2) When you struggle with overwhelming feelings of discouragement. (I can’t) Sign #5) When you struggle with past temptations that you’ve overcome Sign #6) When you struggle with worries, doubts, and fears every day Sign #7) When you struggle with praying regularly Prepared to Fight. Ephesians 6:10-18 Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we[a] are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth (1) For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth (1) Protects you from lies about who God made you to be The Belt of Truth Helps you know what the right choice is. “What is truth?” Pilate If you believe the words of Jesus then you have a foundation. Even if you don’t believe anything in the Bible you probably think people should generally live by some of the teachings of Jesus. (The Golden Rule) For the believer Truth is verifiable and constant. God’s Word. Meaning if he said it then its truth. This can be seen as circular reasoning unless you have put it to the test. Protection and where you hold your sword. Worn at all times even without the other pieces. and the body armor of God’s righteousness. (2) Helps you choose to make the right choice Protects your heart from sin. Helps you tell the truth. Worn on your chest The Breastplate of Righteousness God’s righteousness- Justice (Ethical conduct) (saving) Most of our western world is governed by Judeo Christians values. Our governments laws really begin with the 10 commandment’s. Don’t steal, murder, obey your parents- parents have legal rights and obligations to children. Adultery is grounds for divorce etc. You could say that many cultures have these same rules but that seems to me to be a strong element for an overriding conscience that goes beyond the immediate culture. That God has given us some responsibility and truth that we all try to live and function under. Unless we are psychopaths. So to put on the righteousness of God means to do the right and ethical thing or Godly thing in every situation.
