There is definitely one thing that every person on the planet has in common: we will all eventually die. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
If you can avoid dying in an accident, from a rampant disease or at the hands of an axe-wielding maniac, how long do you think you could live for, until old age takes you away? What are you likely to eventually die from?
Are you predicting your age of death based on your when your parents passed away? How important is genetics to your maximum lifespan? How can we live longer, and also live healthily, happily and full of energy?
Anybody who has lost a loved-one to Alzheimer's or dementia knows how devastating and soul-destroying for the whole family the disease is. Will you fall victim to it? Is there anything you can do to prevent it? Is it inevitable if it's in your family's history?
I want to live until I'm 100, and I want to be healthy, mobile and energetic until the end. I want all my faculties to still be working, including my brain & my memory. That's my goal. I'm nearly 61 now, so I need to get my sh*t together if this is to become a reality. That is what this episode is about.
This episode discusses a little bit about the process of aging, plus how important your genetics are to your life expectancy, and what we can all do to extend our lives; not only the duration of life, but the joy, the mobility and the love of life. In the process, I offer a number of hacks that should significantly help you achieve years, if not decades, of more high-quality life.
Incidentally, the book I mentioned is called "Lifespan: Why we age-and why we don't have to" by David Sinclair.
