In this week’s bi-weekly episode focused on parents and caregivers of kids with type one diabetes, I’m throwing it back to an insightful zoom interview I did last year with two parents of T1D kids, Doug and Lacey. I coached both families for over two years, and their growth in mindset and managing numbers has been tremendous. I can’t wait to share their journeys with you.
Doug lives in Connecticut with his wife, Gina, and their two kids. His daughter Sabrina was diagnosed at nine and is now 13. Lacy lives in Chicago with her husband Brian and their three boys. Her son Ethan was diagnosed at 20 months old and is now eight.
In this episode, we talk about so much including…

  • Navigating different management and parenting styles
  • Finding balance with food and blood sugars
  • How both families handle leaving their child in someone else's care
  • The impact of teaching kids to strive for perfection with their T1D.
