High Performance Team: Does Your Team Work Like a Formula 1 Pit Crew?
Manage episode 155407957 series 1155253
In this week’s podcast Phil Dobbie asks Michael Fingland, Director and CEO of Vantage Performance, if he can point to an example of a high performance team. He says the most visible display is the pit crew on a Formula 1 race track. They have to quickly evaluate a problem, find a solution, act on it and be aware of any external circumstances that could impact the execution. And they do it over and over again. That’s how businesses need to operate to succeed.
It’s essential that a troubled business adopts a high performance culture as part of a turnaround solution. But every other business should be assuming the same approach. Often they don’t though. Many rely on industry benchmarks as a way of reassuring themselves that they are doing okay – when, in truth, they should always be aiming to exceed those benchmarks and stand out from competitors.
The conclusion to today’s discussion is, “does your team work like a pit crew?” If the answer is “no”, it’s time to change.
