In this episode of the JEDI podcast, we welcome special guest Joy Ahrens, Director of the Woman, Infant and Children (WIC) Program at North East Valley Health Corporation. From growing up as a child of Chinese immigrant parents in San Diego, to attending UCLA, Joy takes on a tour of her lived experiences. Perhaps most interestingly, Joy talks about her intersectionality as a person in an interracial marriage. She also provides our listeners with keen insight of what it is like to help her multiracial son navigate the world in which he lives.
