Kathleen Evans was an International Living subscriber back in the early 1990s, when she worked as a media sales executive, in the “Corporate America” grind in Austin, Texas. Originally from Chicago, Kathleen had brief expat experiences in England and South Africa in previous decades, and she always dreamed of a slower lifestyle in a tropical climate.
After researching countries (primarily in the Americas) for a number of years, Kathleen and her retired husband found a piece of paradise and made the move in 2013 to the Pacific Beach town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
With more time to pursue new passions, Kathleen reinvented herself as a writer. When the opportunity came along to join the International Living team, she did not hesitate. Kathleen credits IL with being the catalyst that set the wheels in motion for her to make her dream life a reality.
After living through the COVID lockdown - longing for history, culture, shopping, and international cuisine, Kathleen and her husband realized that to them, the perfect expat experience would include a part-time footprint in Europe. Now they are spending extensive time in Malta, researching home ownership and residency there to go along with their home and residency in Costa Rica and in Austin.
