UNMOVABLE IN LOVE 1 Corinthians 15:58 Matthew 22:34-40 February 12, 2023 Our highest calling is to love God and love people. By doing this we are fulfilling God’s purposes for our life. Jesus was asked, ‘what is the greatest command?’ His response, paraphrased was - Love God-love people! Matthew 22:34-40 Matthew 22:40 “All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands” Imagine that! The whole Law, The Prophets, 39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament books; 1,189 chapters; 31,102 verses; 783,137 words; all can be summed into these two commands; these two verses; 38 words. How do we accomplish this? By Loving God with all of our being. Deuteronomy 6:5 “Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength” Love-‘agapao’-love god with all of who we are. Heart-‘kardia’-the center of all physical and spiritual life. Soul-‘Psyche’-seat of feelings, desires, and affections. Mind-‘Dianoia’-way of thinking and feeling. The faculty of understanding. Strength-‘Ischys’-ability, force, strength, might To obey God is to love Him! John 14:15 We don’t obey God to obtain His favor-we obey God because of His favor! Vision without mission is useless.
