Unmovable in Truth - Part 2
Manage episode 353376518 series 1097733
Unmovable in Truth 1 Corinthians 15:58 John 14:6 January 22, 2023 Truth is absolute. It is not relative nor arbitrary, yet 66% of Americans believe there is no such thing as absolute truth. 70% of teens believe two people could define truth in conflicting ways and both be correct. Truth that is absolute must have the following qualities: • Truth is discovered not invented. • Truth is transcultural: it can be conveyed across different cultures. • Truth is unchanging: it can be conveyed across time. • Beliefs cannot change Truth, regardless, how sincere one may be. • Truth is unaffected by the attitude of the one professing it. • Truth is absolute. • Truth is knowable. For truth to be absolute and hold these qualities, it must be grounded in a source that is personal, unchanging, and sovereign over all creation. Jesus is TRUTH! John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Our attitude toward the truth determines the outcome of our lives. Truth is the life of Jesus – which is to be manifested in us. 2 Corinthians 4:10 Always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. The Truth is that light which shines into our lives and reveals what we are really like by nature. 1.The Truth causes us to REPENT. 1 John 5:20 (NKJV) And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20 (The Message) And we know that the Son of God came so we could recognize and understand the truth of God—what a gift!—and we are living in the Truth itself, in God's Son, Jesus Christ. This Jesus is both True God and Real Life. 2. The Truth brings Transformation – the whole point of the truth 3 John 1:3 (TPT) I was filled with joy and delight when the brothers arrived and informed me of your faithfulness to the truth. They told me how you live continually in the truth of Christ. 3 John 1:4 It is the greatest joy of my life to hear that my children are consistently living their lives in the ways of truth! The TRUTH enables constant development, constant progress, continuous sanctification, and continuous transformation into the image of Christ. It is possible for everyone to walk in this truth, so that it can set us free from sin – both the consequences of it and its power over us. John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The result: 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 3. The truth gives hope! We can be filled with hope, because we know that the Spirit of Truth is also the Spirit of Power, and through Him we are able to overcome all things. Psalm 86:11 “Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth.” We can only be transformed to the image of Christ to the same degree that we love the truth.
