In this episode it’s all about discipline. As you and I both know, discipline is the deciding factor between realizing our goals and dreams in life and failing to do so. Being a recovering comfortaholic, I struggle with discipline from time to time. That’s why I look to people at the top of their discipline game for inspiration and motivation. I get a lot of that inspiration from Jocko Willink, the former Navy Seal who, quite frankly epitomizes discipline in my opinion. You can see why I say that and see his discipline in action every morning by following him on instagram . Here’s another thought-provoking quote on discipline from Robin Sharma’s book, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari . Through the steel of discipline, you will forge a character rich with courage and peace. Through the virtue of will, you are destined to rise to life’s highest ideal and live within a heavenly mansion filled with all that is good, joyful and vital. Without them, you are lost like a mariner without a compass, one who eventually sinks with his ship. The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, by Robin Sharma In this episode, you’ll discover: How developing discipline enhances your experience Some of the people I look to when I want to be more disciplined A sneak peak at some of the courses I’m working on and some already available. A look forward at what’s coming up on my youtube channel . Thanks for listening! I hope you enjoyed this episode. A World of Creativity is a special interview series within Enhancing the Human Experience co-hosted by myself and Mark Stinson. In this series, we talk with successful people from around the globe to find out how they get inspired, where their ideas come from, and how they apply creativity in their business and personal lives. Scroll to the end of this post to listen to prior episodes in this series. Well, we've arrived at our final episode in this special series, A World of Creativity. If you've been with us since the beginning, we want to thank you and we hope you got as much out of this series as we did. In this episode Mark shares 6 big ideas he's taken away from our guests in this series. We'd like to thank all of our guests for taking the time to talk with us and share their experience. We'd also like to thank you for listening. 6 big ideas from A World of Creativity Special Interview Series: Toolbox - Each of our guests had one or more go-to tools or processes to help them get their creative juices flowing and ultimately arrive at a creative solution to the problem they were solving.Perseverance - All of our guests expressed and demonstrated a can-do attitude and an on-going commitment to be more creative and grow. Many mentioned reading, practice, and taking on new challenges as ways they stayed on top of their creative game.Data - Many of our guests talked about the relationships between data and creativity. They talked about the idea that each of these support the end result and that focusing on either data or creativity to the exclusion of the other can never produce the best result.Empathy - Our guests talked about the need to know and cultivate a deep understanding of your target market or client you are serving. Many expressed the profound benefits of getting very specific when thinking of that one person who will be using your product or service. This person could be a consumer, reader, viewer, etc. Visualize them as a real person, in a real life situation, with real struggles and problems you are helping them solve.Contingency plan - Many of our guests talked about the need to plan for the best, but prepare for the worst so you aren't blind-sided by something you didn't foresee at the outset of your project.Leadership - All of our guests were constantly looking for ways to elevate their creative influence in the world and share their experience with other creators. Many shared resources with us that you can find in the show notes that accompany every episode (see links below). (This interview was recorded at The Village at Meridian, in Meridian, Idaho so please excuse the background noise.) My guest this week is Samuel Figueroa. I met Sam through our very special mutual friend and Personal Stylist, Ruth Romero. As Sam shared a little about himself the evening we met, including some of the experiences he had lived, I was impressed by his level of conviction and the clear vision he had for his life. Later that evening as we were speaking one-on-one I told him I assumed he was already doing many of the things he wanted to do in the future. That's how strong his energy was surrounding his vision. I think you'll get the same impression as I did when you listen to this interview. In this episode, you'll discover: The value of believing in yourself and your visionWhy awareness is so important to realizing your goals and dreams in lifeHow books can help you achieve your visionThe importance of being inspired and also inspiring othersWhy a positive mental attitude is essential to success Below is the video of our interview if you prefer to watch. https://youtu.be/Wdxw64pbqmg My conversation with Samuel Figueroa. This week Mark went back to his library to find another book with a message to help you cultivate more creativity in your business and your life. That book is, Play: How it Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul, by Stuart Brown. Stuart Brown is the founder of The National Institute for Play. In this episode, Mark shares the 6 step framework for Play: Anticipation - The first thing about play is the anticipation. You can't wait to go outside and play or start the game. This creates an eagerness to do it.Surprise - There is an element of surprise in play.Pleasure - Play is enjoyable.Understanding - You learn about yourself and others when you're playing.Strength - When you play you gain strength; mentally, physically, emotionally, and intellectually. You also improve your stamina and state of mind.Poise - You develop poise when you play. The more you play the better you relate to yourself and other players. You're also able to be coached better. The author encourages us to answer the following questions: When have you felt free to be and do what you choose? Is there a part of your life right now that play fits into. What do you feel stands in the way of your achieving more personal time for play? Are you able to feel what engages you the most effortlessly, because it's play?
