Siegelman was convicted of corruption in that a friend donated money to a charity on which Seigelman had once served on the board. Siegelman did not profit from the monies nor were any part of the funds transferred to him for his use. He served one term as the 51st Governor of Alabama from 1999 to 2003. As of 2020, Siegelman is the last member of the Democratic Party, as well as the only Roman Catholic, to serve as Governor of Alabama. He is the only person in the history of Alabama to be elected to serve in all four of the top statewide elected offices: Secretary of State, Attorney General, Lieutenant Governor and Governor. He served in Alabama politics for 26 years. In a searing political memoir, former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman explodes the myth of an impartial U.S. justice system. He should know. Arguably the most successful and promising politician in modern Alabama history, his three-decade career in public service ran afoul of rival opponents who used the federal judicial system to take him out of contention in Alabama and nationally. Siegelman ultimately was sentenced to 88 months in federal prison and served five years, with long stretches in solitary confinement during which he was a literal political prisoner, cut off from interviews and outside contact.

If you are familiar with THE ISLEY BROTHERS, then you have heard the music of CHRIS JASPER, who was primarily responsible for writing and producing all of THE ISLEY BROTHERS music during this time, including such beautiful love songs as “For The Love of You” and “Between the Sheets” and uptempo funk such as “Fight the Power.” His arrangements and instrumentation as a classically-trained musician, and his expertise on the keyboards and synthesizers, are the foundation of the legendary “Isley Brothers Sound.” Re-recorded elements of "That Lady" are incorporated in " i ", the lead single of Kendrick Lamar 's 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly . I have attended events Remembering the History, People & Sacrifice. The Fight for Justice Continues Today in 2025 as People Take to the Streets to Voice their Opinions to Help Bring About Change. My Guest this Week was asked to join the Selma March in Alabama in 1965 by Dr. Martin Luther King. His name: Joseph Cooney Esq., then a newly ordained Priest. He also worked with SCLC in the Voters Registration Summers of 1966-67. In 1965,State Troopers Clashed with Citizens marching to Montgomery, Alabama to petition the state for African-American's Right to Vote. Many lives would change in this fight. Some lives both Black & White lost. The March from Selma to Montgomery was inspired by the death of Jimmie Lee Jackson was a civil rights activist in Marion, Alabama, and a deacon in the Baptist church. On February 18, 1965, while participating in a peaceful voting rights march in his city, he was beaten by troopers and shot by Alabama State Trooper John Bonard Fowler Jackson was unarmed and died eight days later in the hospital. His death was part of the inspiration for the Selma to Montgomery marches in March 1965, a major events in the American Civil Rights Movement that helped gain Congressional passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
