Manage episode 335782816 series 2856823
In this episode, stepping in for Tyler, is our guest host Libby from our sister podcast Behind the Service. Libby talks with Dr. Paula Schnurr, executive director for the National Center for PTSD about the difference between prolonged exposure therapy versus cognitive behavioral therapy for veterans with PTSD. Prolonged exposure therapy focuses on helping a person get control over their traumatic memories to break the cycle. Whereas, cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on the thoughts of guilt and shame that often accompany the traumatic experience.
