France became the first team to qualify for the Round of 16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup after securing their second win of the tournament against Denmark (2-1) thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappé. Mbappé is already the top scorer in the competition, with three goals in two games, equaling the record of Ecuador's Enner Valencia. His last two goals, moreover, were crucial in beating Denmark (2-1) and qualifying France for the round of 16, thus breaking the jinx of the champion, who in the last three World Cups had remained in the group stage. The game opened up in the open field. After a stunning back-heel that was intercepted by the defense on the run, Mbappé teamed up with Theo on the left flank with the formula of a lifetime. The magic of the '10' ended up turning around a match that was full of chances, but none so clear that Denmark should have left the 974 stadium with a scandalous victory. France, who had lost both of their Nations League matches against the Scandinavians this year, continued their virtuoso run at the World Cup.
