On October 31, 1969, two teenage girls, 16-year-old Patricia Spencer and 15-year-old Pamela Hobley, mysteriously disappeared from Oscoda, Michigan, after leaving school early amid a bomb threat. Both girls had engaged in activities disapproved by their families, and Pamela had accepted a marriage proposal at a young age. They were last seen walking away from school, did not bring purses or identification, and were not planning to run away. Although initially speculated as runaways heading to Flint, this theory was abandoned due to their close family ties. The girls' movements suggest they hitchhiked and may have been abducted by multiple assailants. An anonymous tip in 1985 suggested they were murdered by two local men and buried near a barn, but searches yielded no evidence. Police have also identified a person of interest in 2013. Many questions remain about their disappearance, and theories range from Foote Dam to a potential pregnancy. The mystery of their fate continues to haunt their families over 50 years later.
