Sionna, one of the largest independent investment firms run by a woman, was formed by Kim in 2002. Sionna's Large Cap, All Cap, and Focused Canadian Value strategies all have her as the lead Portfolio Manager. She has garnered multiple honors since joining the profession in 1983, including Morningstar Fund Manager of the Year (2005), RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Award (2007), Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award (2007, 2017), and Rotman Women in Management Association Top 10 Award (Entrepreneur Category, 2015).
Kim serves on the Brandes Institute, Ontario Arts Foundation, and United Corporation boards of directors. She is a past President of the CFA Society Toronto and a member of the C.D. Howe Institute's National Council and the CFA Institute Board of Regents (where she previously served as chair). Kim is a member of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance's board of directors and formerly served as its Chair of the Governance Committee.
Kim was one of a limited group of industry professionals invited to speak at the 2020 Columbia Business School Omaha Panel, "From Graham to Buffett and Beyond." In 2019, Kim co-hosted the Variant Perspectives Value Investing Conference, which included Warren Buffett as the keynote speaker.
