Out of every one hundred males who have a substance use disorder, sixty-five of them have experienced sexual abuse/assault in the past. Out of every one hundred females who have a substance use disorder, eighty of them have experienced sexual abuse/assault in the past. All three speakers discuss the importance of never judging individuals struggling with substance addictions since you may never know what kind of traumas they are dealing with internally.
