Florida TV News Anchor Arrested for Drunk Driving

On December 5, 2018 Florida morning news anchor Farron Salley was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. This video presents the entirety of Salley's traffic stop, field sobriety testing, and her testy exchanges with law enforcement.

Remarkably, on February 8, 2019 Assistant State Attorney Ryan G. Myers filed a memo in State of Florida v. Farron La Trice Salley, stating that "Although there was probable cause to make an arrest, the evidence cannot prove all legally required elements of the crime alleged and is insufficient to support a criminal prosecution." And with that, all charges against Salley were dropped. A copy of that filing as well as Salley's breath testing refusal is included at the end of this video.

During the pendency of Salley's DUI case the WPBF anchor was suspended from her on-air duties, but when the charges against her were dropped Salley was quickly back in her former position. But the story doesn't end there. In late-June 2019 a few minutes of footage from her stop were published, resulting in WPBF "reassessing the impact of the incident." Shortly thereafter Salley resigned.

Police Interrogation of Police Officer for the Murder of his Police Chief while on vacation A former Oklahoma officer has been found guilty of murdering his police chief during a conference in Florida A former Oklahoma police officer was found guilty Wednesday in the death of his police chief while they attended a law enforcement conference in Pensacola, Florida, in 2019. Michael Nealey was found guilty of second-degree murder by a Florida jury, according to CNN affiliate WEAR. Court records show his sentencing is scheduled for April 29. CNN has reached out to Nealey's attorney for comment on the verdict but has not heard back. Nealey was arrested a day after the body of Mannford Police Chief Lucky Miller was found in a hotel room in Pensacola in November, 2019. Escambia County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call about a fight at the hotel where Nealey and Miller were staying for the conference. Prosecutors said during the trial that the medical examiner determined Miller was beaten and strangled or suffocated to death, WEAR reported. Only two people were in that room. One of them is dead and one of them is on trial," said prosecutor Trey Myers during closing arguments, according to the station. Extreme levels of intoxication were involved that night, prosecutors argued, and a forensic toxicologist testified that both men had blood alcohol concentration levels about four times the legal limit to drive, the affiliate reported. "It's impossible to get inside the mind of a man who was here for a law enforcement conference who has had half a gallon of vodka to drink and understand his thoughts," added Myers, WEAR reported. Nealey did not take the stand in his defense, the station reported. The trial began Monday with jury selection and lasted a day and a half before the jury returned a guilty verdict. Miller, 44, was chief of police since 2007. He had a wife and three children. The POLICE INTERROGATION of Skylar Nemetz PART 2 Officer Darrell Moore The following is excerpted from the report of Officer Darrell Moore: Skylar told me "I need to tell someone my story." I directed the fire department personal to the apartment so they could administer medical attention. Skylar again stated, "I want to talk to you." I stared at Skylar without saying anything. Skylar went onto say that he was in Yakima for field training with the military. Skylar said he returned home to his wife. Skylar said he loves his wife more than most other men, and that his love for her was special. Skylar stated that he returned home from Yakima and he had left his wife with his rifle for her protection when he was gone. Skylar told me that he took out the magazine, and motioned taking out the magazine. Skylar said he was making the rifle safe, and for some reason he grabbed the rifle and shook it. I watched as Skylar demonstrated grabbing what I believed to be the upper portion of the rifle with his left hand and the lower portion of the rifle with his right hand. Skylar motioned holding the rifle at an approximately 45 degree cant. Skylar said, "I just shook it and it shot her." Skylar began to make sounds as if he was crying, but I could see that he had no tears coming out. I also noticed that he had no tears during my entire contact with him. Neighbors According to neighbors, they regularly heard yelling coming from the Nemetz residence. Among the many statements initially made by Skylar Nemetz was a statement to his neighbor that his wife Danielle had shot herself while she was cleaning a rifle. Eureka Interviews On November 24, 2014, detectives traveled to Eureka, California, to conduct interviews. Among those interviewed was Samatha Minton, who stated that she knew Danielle most of her whole life. According to Minton, Danielle had met Skylar on the internet approximately two months before they married. Minton stated that she had observed what she thought was odd behavior between the couple. For example, when Daniella and Skylar would visit, Skylar would drop her off at the house and leave her there all day, while he visited with his friends. Detectives also interviewed Michayla Yingling, who had known Danielle her whole life. Yingling confirmed that Danielle had met Skylar on the internet two months before they had married. Yingling said Danielle never gave her any indication Skylar was being abusive. She knew that Skylar had broken Danielle's cell phone, but she did not know the details. Yingling said Danielle never talked negatively about Skylar, but she got the impression that Danielle was being fake. Yingling stated that Skylar would not let Danielle come to her baby shower, and that Skylar was indecisive on wanting Danielle to get a job. Skylar would tell Danielle to get a job, and when she looked for a job he would tell her she didn't need one. Yingling said Danielle just wanted someone to love her and take care of her. Yingling said Danielle thought her new boss was attractive, and that Danielle had told her that her new boss used to be an underwear model. Yingling said she had a FaceTime session with Danielle and her boss, while they were out to dinner. Yingling was positive that Danielle would not cheat on Skylar. Yingling said on the night Danielle died she had FaceTimed with her at approximately 1600 hours. Yingling said nothing appeared to be out the ordinary, and that at one point Danielle had pointed the phone at Skylar, who had smiled and waved to her. According to Mikala Rippeon, Danielle's youngest sister, Danielle was always wearing long-sleeved shirts and turtleneck sweaters. Mikala remembered seeing what appeared to be fingertip bruises on Danielle's arms. The Diary On February 24, 2015, detectives contacted Skylar's mother, Danetta Heller, as they had obtained information that she was possibly in possession of Danielle's diary that was taken from her apartment after the homicide. The following day, Danetta confirmed that she was in possession of Danielle's diary. Danetta stated there were some pages missing from the diary, but stated that she had not removed the missing pages. Danetta stated that she had removed the diary from the apartment because it contained information that she thought would be hurtful to her son, stating that Danielle was a "busy little girl." After speaking with Skylar's attorney, Danetta ceased to cooperate, however she turned over Danielle's diary to Skylar's attorney, who turned it over to the prosecutor. Several pages had been removed. There was an entry that was about Danielle having sex with a male named Kennedy. It stated that Kennedy and Danielle used to date, that they were still having sex, and that Kennedy's current girlfriend Chloe did not know. The entry was dated 4/23/12. CVSA Although the CVSA shown in this video is pseudoscience, the test results were "no signs of deception." Karie Faas On the morning of October 17, 2014, detectives were contacted by Karie Faas, who advised that she had information about the incident. According to Faas, Nemetz and Danielle had a violent relationship. Faas stated that over the two years she has known Danielle, she has seen Danielle with bruises up and down her arms. Faas stated that she thought she still had a picture of Danielle with her face swollen and bruised, and that Danielle had told her it was from a mosquito bite. Faas went on to say that Nemetz was extremely jealous and almost possessive, and that Nemetz was extremely controlling; he would not let her go places, and he controlled who she could see and what she could wear. Faas stated that Nemetz called Danielle names – specifically, "cunt." Faas stated that Danielle was getting close to her boss from her new job, and that he had kind of hinted that he was interested romantically but Danielle just kind of blew it off. Faas stated that she warned Danielle that she was playing with fire. Faas also stated that Danielle did not want to be friends with her boss on Facebook, because she didn't want Skylar to find out. Karie stated that Danielle was really happy that Skylar was coming home, and that she had gone out shopping and bought new underwear. Danielle stated that she had also bought Nemetz alcohol, so he would be happy when he got home. When asked, Karie stated that Nemetz is a big drinker, that he had a lot of barbecues on the weekend, and that a lot of people go to Nemetz's house to drink. Faas also stated that she heard Nemetz had "snapped" in the field. She stated that during his training deployment he had snapped and "freaked out" on a bunch of soldiers. Faas also stated "there is no way this was an accident, he was only home for a few hours". Faas stated that she knew that Danielle's new job was going to cause problems, and that she had told Danielle to stand her ground if Skylar tried to make her quit. Faas then stated she knew that Nemetz was upset when he left work over who had bought the alcohol for Danielle (which was actually for him). Faas stated that her husband, Anthony Faas, was the last one to see Nemetz at work and he had told Skylar that someone else had bought the alcohol. Faas stated that Danielle had a friend named Jeremy. who had just recently been stationed locally at Fort Lewis. Jeremy had spent the night a couple times with Danielle in the past three weeks. Faas stated that she had some text messages from Danielle that said "Jeremy is here, he can help you bring the kids' stuff up." Faas stated that she knows that her husband Anthony had gone through her phone, and that and he may have seen those texts and told Nemetz. In subsequent interviews with Danielle's boss, as well as with Danielle's friend Jeremy Newton, both appeared forthright, and adamantly denied that Danielle had cheated on Skylar. Those interviews will be uploaded. Anthony Faas Detectives subsequently interviews Anthony Faas, the husband of Karie Faas. Anthony stated that that Nemetz was assigned to his platoon back in 2013 and they became friends right away because they were both from Northern California. He stated that they would hang out together with their wives, and that after a few months, "Dannie" told them that Nemetz would hit her. He stated that at first that didn't believe it, but that they went camping one weekend, and when they got home Dannie had sent a picture of the side of her face swollen. Anthony stated that Skylar told Dannie to say it was the result of a bug bite, however it looked like she had been hit. Anthony said that he and his old team leader, Sam Phipps, confronted Skylar about hitting Dannie, and told him that if he ever did it again they were going to do something about it. He said that Skylar never admitted to assaulting Dannie, and that he subsequently became distant from him and Phipps. Anthony stated that Skylar was a really good dude and a good soldier, adding that Skylar was really good with guns. Anthony stated that all Skylar wanted to do was build guns. Anthony then stated that the deployment was difficult because of new supervision and that everyone was on edge. Anthony stated that Skylar and he started to butt heads, so he pulled Skylar aside and asked him what was going on. Anthony stated that Skylar started cursing at him, and that Skylar was "freaking out" on everyone. Anthony said Skylar commented that everyone was picking on him too much. When he later met up with Skylar, Anthony stated that Skylar thanked him for buying him some alcohol. Anthony replied that he hadn't bought him any alcohol, and that some other guy had bought it for him. Anthony said that Skylar got "real mad" and that his hands were shaking. Police Cadet Rapist on To Catch A Predator Michael Patterson Police Interrogation Michael Joseph Patterson, otherwise known as jon_raven2000 was a predator caught in the Bowling Green, Kentucky installment of To Catch a Predator. He is perhaps best known for screaming his ass off while being arrested by the police. Biography Prior to the sting operation, Patterson was a reserve police officer in Lebron, Indiana, who was fired for using police car lights to pull someone over, impersonating an on-duty officer. Patterson drove 5 hours away from Kouts, Indiana to the sting house in Bowling Green to meet up with a girl he believed to be thirteen. Within 2 hours of being acquainted with the decoy online, he drives to her house and talks to her over the phone on the way. During the conversation, he discloses that he carries a gun with him everywhere, so the sting team gave the decoy special instructions to make sure he was unarmed upon arrival. The decoy gives a series of verbal commands to Patterson to prove that he is unarmed, and he giddily does so without suspecting a thing. Once he enters the house he gives into the decoy's small talk, admiring the house and falsely telling her that he's a detective lieutenant. After disclosing this he is greeted by Chris Hansen, who exercises his own detective skills and asks Patterson why he's there. Patterson cites his loneliness and his ongoing divorce as reasons to commit statutory rape. After chuckling at hearing some of his chat log lines, he is let go by Chris, only to come face to face with a group of officers (who are advised to act more swiftly than usual due to the earlier suspicion of him being armed). Upon seeing the officers, he steps back into the house and makes a run for it, being shot with a taser gun as a result. Only one of the prods of the taser connects with Patterson's body, which allowed him to run even further through the house without being electrocuted. Like a scene straight from The Walking Dead, he is quickly ambushed from all sides and taken down while he screams and begs hysterically. Aftermath On June 11, 2008, Patterson was convicted of Traveling In Interstate Commerce For The Purpose Of Engaging In A Sexual Act With A Minor. He received 7 years in federal prison and 10 years supervised release. He also received three years and ten months by the state of Kentucky. Both sentences were served concurrently. In 2011 Patterson represented himself in a civil lawsuit against NBC Universal, Inc., asking for $40,000,000 each in monetary and punitive damages, as well as injunctive relief in the form of having all information about him taken off television and NBC's website. Patterson's allegations include: He was "lured" to the sting house, and that the decoy took advantage of his "vulnerability". NBC Universal, Inc.'s "libel, slander and defamatory statements" have caused him mental and emotional stress and ruined his reputation. Mother accused of killing children, putting them in oven FULL 911 CALL The disturbing 911 call from a mother now accused of murdering her two small children was released by police on Wednesday. Atlanta Police said Lamora Williams, 24, killed her two young children, Ja'Karter Penn, 1, and Ke-Yaunte Penn, 2, by placing them in an oven, but that’s not what she told dispatchers when she called 911. What do I… what do I… what do I got to do? They dead,” Williams told a dispatcher. The call starts with Williams telling the dispatch she came home from work and discovered her two young sons dead. The call quickly turned graphic. I don't know what to do. I just came home from work," Williams was heard saying in the 911 call. The charges laid out in a warrant which stated the 24-year-old mother put Ja'Karter and Ke-Yaunte in the oven sometime between 11 p.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday. At the same time Williams was making her 911 call, the boy's father, Jameel Penn, was also calling 911 from his workplace. He told a dispatcher Williams had just video chatted with him, showing him the dead bodies of his sons. Glen McCurley 1974 Cold-Case Murder of 17-Year Old Carla Walker Full Police Interrogation MCurley was a person of interest in the 1974 slaying but detectives said there wasn't enough evidence to tie him to the case 46 years ago. Texas company used a new forensic process to create a full DNA profile of the suspect from evidence pulled off the victim's clothing -- only partial profiles were obtained before. A Tarrant County Grand Jury has indicted a 77-year-old man in connection with a cold case that went unsolved for nearly half a century. Glen Samuel McCurley was indicted on a charge of capital murder for his role in the death of Carla Jan Walker, a 17-year-old Western Hills High School junior who was kidnapped and murdered in 1974. According to police, Walker was abducted, held captive, and sexually assaulted before being murdered and left in a ditch after a Valentine's Day dance. Investigators alleged that McCurley snatched Walker from the passenger seat of her boyfriend's car in a bowling alley parking lot. Walker's boyfriend, Rodney McCoy, told police that a man pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him before something hit him in the head, knocking him unconscious. McCoy told police he later woke up to find Walker was gone and blood coming from his head. Walker's body was found three days later in a culvert near Benbrook Lake. Police said she had been beaten, raped, strangled, and tortured alive for two days after her disappearance. DNA evidence recovered from clothing and a bra worn by Walker on the night she was killed was sent to Othram, a private lab in The Woodlands. The DNA profile created at Othram was used to narrow the search to three brothers with the last name McCurley. According to police, Glen Samuel McCurley had been identified as a person of interest during the initial investigation in 1974 because he owned a gun, a .22 Ruger, that matched a magazine found at the crime scene. Detectives spoke to McCurley during the initial investigation, but they did not pursue McCurley again following the 1974 interview until the DNA profile match was found in GEDMATCH. Police collected trash from a bin in front of McCurley's residence in July of 2020, and they were able to determine that the items matched the male DNA profile found on Walker's clothing. On Sept. 10, 2020, police said they returned to McCurley's home and spoke to both him and his wife, during which time McCurley told the same story that he told detectives in 1974. He said he didn't kill anyone and did not know Carla Walker. McCurley agreed to provide a DNA sample, and six days later, police said they were notified the swabs matched the DNA found on Walker's bra. A warrant for capital murder was then obtained and McCurley was taken into custody without incident. Jail records showed McCurley was being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a charge of capital murder with bond set at $100,000. During a news conference, detectives with the Fort Worth Police Department said they believe the assault and murder were random and that Walker and McCurley didn't know each other. Police said it appears that over the last four decades, McCurley led a relatively normal life, was married, and had two children. Police also said that McCurley is not a suspect in any other crimes. LAPD Detective Stephanie Lazarus Murder Suspect - Full Length Police Interrogation Video Full Length Police Interrogation Video Sherri Rasmussen (February 7, 1957 – February 24, 1986) was an American woman found dead in February 1986 in an apartment she shared with her husband, John Ruetten, in Van Nuys, California. Rasmussen had been beaten and shot three times in a struggle. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) initially considered the case a botched burglary, and the crime remained unsolved. Rasmussen's father believed that Stephanie Lazarus, an LAPD officer, was a prime suspect. Detectives who re-examined the cold case files in 2009 were eventually led to Lazarus, by then herself a detective. A DNA sample she unknowingly discarded was matched to one from a bite on Rasmussen's body that had remained in the files. Lazarus was convicted of the murder in 2012 and is serving a sentence of 27 years to life for first-degree murder at the California Institution for Women in Corona. Lazarus appealed the conviction, claiming that the age of the case and the evidence denied her due process. She also alleged that the search warrant was improperly granted, her statements in an interview prior to her arrest were compelled, and that evidence supporting the original case theory should have been admitted at trial. In 2015, the guilty verdict was upheld by the California Court of Appeal.[5] Some of the police files suggest that evidence that could have implicated Lazarus earlier in the investigation was later removed, perhaps by others in the LAPD. Rasmussen's parents unsuccessfully sued the department over this and other aspects of the investigation. Jennifer Francis, the criminalist who found key evidence from the bite mark, unsuccessfully sued the City of Los Angeles, claiming she was pressured by police to favor certain suspects in this and other high-profile cases and was retaliated against when she brought this to the LAPD's attention.
