This week, Becky sits down with documentarian Matt Gallagher to talk about his most recent film “Prey”.
Please note that this episode, as well as the documentary, deal with the sensitive themes of sexual abuse within a religious community and the aftermath. It may not be appropriate for all listeners or viewers.
In the film, Matt points his camera at "priest-hunter" lawyer Rob Talach and two sexual abuse survivors, as they go head to head against the Catholic Church and Sudbury priest, William “Hod” Hodgson Marshall. At once emotional, devastating and hopeful, this courtroom documentary shines a light on a dark chapter in Canada's past - and it's present.
The film won two awards at this year's Hot Docs Film Festival: the Roger’s Audience Award for Best Canadian Documentary, and DGC’s Special Jury Prize for Best Canadian Feature Documentary.
Prey will be receiving its broadcast premiere on TVO on November 19th and you can catch it on their streaming service after that.
