The writings and images on Egypt's Medinet Habu are about a group of marauding invaders whom scholars have called the “Sea Peoples” since the end of the 19th century. These were 9 distinct groups of people from the western and eastern Mediterranean, the Aegean, and maybe even Cyprus. They were fierce warriors who were responsible for bringing the Late Bronze Age to an end around 1200 BCE. One of those groups, the Philistines, made history in the Bible as well.
