This week, what we're throwing down on the Table is an in-depth discussion and interview with John McMullen, Eagles Insider from Sports Illustrated, the Philly Voice, and JAKIB Media Sports, to discuss whether this Eagles team has exceeded expectations this season. We discussed both the offense, defense and coaching, and whether or not certain elements of this team have overwhelmed or underwhelmed us this year. It was a great discussion!
But first, we opened the show by discussing holiday and birthday parties during this time of year given what we're going through in the world. Erik told a great story. (approx. 1:05)
We brought back our "Up or Down" segment. The two topics we dove into were holiday treats that involve pretzels, and the Sixers bench players this season. (approx. 20:15)
Then we talked about why college coaches often fail in the professional sports world (looking at you Urban Meyer), but why front offices and owners haven't learned from past mistakes.(approx. 31:15)
From there, we discussed our thoughts on when we think MLB and the union will actually come to an agreement on a contract. Will it be January? Possibly longer? (approx. 41:50)
As 2022 is right around the corner, we gave our one rational and logical goal that we have for one of the Philly sports teams. Call it a New Year's wish. (approx. 47:15)
What we threw down on the Table was a great discussion with John McMullen from Sports Illustrated about this Eagles season and whether or not fans should see this as a year of exceeding expectations. Has Jalen Hurts exceeded expectations, and if so, is it enough to keep him around long-term? The defense hasn't generated many sacks this year, but they've certainly pressured opponents. Has Jonathan Gannon exceeded expectations along with a young head coach, Nick Sirianni? All of this and much more during our discussion with John! (approx. 57:25)
