Stewart Lee: King Rocker
Manage episode 311156251 series 3086112
Like every podcast going this week, Mrs Barbara Nice and Friends was fortunate to be able to chat with comedian Stewart Lee to talk about the film he has in part funded, produced, interviewed and promoted along with Michael Cummings (Brass Eye, Toast of London): King Rocker
The film focuses on Birmingham alternative rock band "The Nightingales" and Stewart chats to Barbara about the making of the film as well as their shared history in the band's early days in Brum when Stewart was a fledgling standup and Barbara was part of her own groups the Surprises and The Ever-Readys
They manage to unearth some stories about their shared past on the Birmingham music scene unique to them as well as working out how many curries it takes to make a film and how Frank Skinner's memories of being in the band made everyone question their collective memories.
You can watch King Rocker on Sky Arts on 2 consecutive saturdays (6th/13th) at 9pm
(Freeview Channel 11) and on its catch up service thereafter.
