In this episode, the guys (minus a one-week absent Jordan) tackle the gospel. After intros and a breakdown of this week's coffee (0:00-3:30), they discuss the literary genre of the gospels (3:31-6:42). After that, they jump into what most people think about when they hear the word "gospel" (6:43-9:42). Philip gives an overview of the story of the Bible leading up to Jesus' arrival on the scene, and they spend more time talking about that story (9:43-14:21), leading into the importance of understanding that story in order to grasp the gospel (14:22-16:13). The guys then discuss the different theories of atonement and how to frame the question of atonement theory as it relates to the gospel (16:14-23:59), and jump into a conversation about whether or not Jesus "preached the gospel" (24:00-29:42). They then take a brief moment to provide help for the listener in digesting this information (29:43-31:06), followed by a user question about the sinner's prayer, coupled with effective ways to preach the gospel (31:07-38:24). Next they talk about the plan of salvation, leading into a discussion of the compelling nature of the gospel (38:25-41:11), and how to go about responding to the gospel in our lives (41:12-42:10). They finish on a discussion of what it means to say "I got saved" and what exactly it is that we are saved from (42:11-44:30), followed by how we can effectively preach the gospel in our lives (44:31-49:08), and concluding with a summary of the conversation and what we would say is the summary of the gospel (49:09-51:22).

This conversation focuses on issues that Christians face when it comes to voting in the political arena, and how a Christian should be actively involved in politics, and not, as some would say, "keep their religion out of it." This episode does not tell someone one way or another who they should vote for, but the guys do discuss things to keep in mind and what to possibly look out for when it does come to voting as a Christian. This pour over (or mini episode) stems from our conversation on the Assurance of Salvation, and deals with some practical questions of emotions and whether or not we can have assurance if we don't "feel" like we love Jesus. To hear the full conversation, please be sure to check out episode 19 on the Assurance of Salvation! This week on The Good Brew, the guys tackle the topic of Human Origins and whether Adam and Eve were the first humans or not. After intros and coffee talk (0:00-5:24), join them as they discuss the science of the day (to the best of their non-scientific abilities), the beliefs of the ancient near east, Paul's use of Adam in the New Testament, and how this conversation might be relevant for us today. Oh, and don't be jealous that they are having a round of Dunk'n'Donuts' Box o' Joe on the episode. Enjoy! This episode wastes no time jumping right where we left off in the last episode (so, for the coffee portion, refer to the last episode). This episode mainly focuses around hypothetical/devil's advocate (pun intended?) questions from Jordan, and the various responses in relation to the topic of Hell. This episode kicks off running with the question - "What about people that don't believe in Jesus but also don't have themselves as the center of their life? Or good people that haven't heard about Jesus?" - and the guys kick around and develop this throughout the whole episode. To learn more, visit us at www.thegoodbrewpodcast.com and follow us on social media @goodbrewpodcast Thanks for listening!…

What is the problem of evil? Venture on to find out! 0:00-2:03 - Intros and coffee talk 2:04-7:21 - The guys set up the central issue of the episode: the philosophical problem of evil- if God is all-good, all-powerful, and all-knowing, then how can evil exist? They also talk about the distinction between the logical and the existential/emotional/experiential problem of evil. 7:22-14:02 - Discussion of Alvin Plantinga's famous free-will defense in response to the problem of evil from Plantinga's book, "God, Freedom, and Evil." 14:03-22:03 - What does it mean to say that God is good? Does goodness need a reference point? Also, a discussion of subjective vs. objective morality. 22:04-36:27 - Could God have created a world without evil in it as a possibility? Is this the best possible world that God could have created? 36:28-42:27 - The emotional side of the problem of evil and the problems that we experience everyday in the midst of anger, depression, sadness, and chaos around us, and how God deeply cares for the problem of evil. Here's our latest question and discussion episode! This episode focuses on two questions, one from the Rapture episode (Episode 5) and one from the Law episode (Episode 13). Enjoy! Question #1: Do you believe in the Bema seat judgment and the Great White judgment as being two separate events, and in what order will those judgments occur at the end? (0:36-18:04) Question #2: Can you clarify your comment that the Old Testament sacrifices were not precursors to Jesus, and is it a slippery slope to say that the Israelites performed sacrifices just because the surrounding nations did so? If you have any questions, submit them to us at info@thegoodbrewpodcast.com or submit them to us on social media @goodbrewpodcast Be sure to check out our website at www.thegoodbrewpodcast.com and our other episodes available now! Thanks for listening!…
