Happiness (2016)

You can have fantastic happiness, security, and tranquility. Jesus told His disciples and us, “I have told you these things that My happiness may be in you and your happiness might be fulfilled” (John 15:11). The Word of God teaches us how to have true happiness. Happiness is a state of mind. “Happiness belongs to those who hear My Father’s Word and keep it” (Luke 11:27-28). All momentum in the Christian life is related to learning and keeping God’s Word. “Happy is the one who finds wisdom and obtains understanding” (Prov 3:13). Wisdom and understanding must be learned. You don’t inherit either. True happiness is contentment. Contentment is a blessing from God for those who learn and follow His plan for their lives. Capacity for happiness must precede the function of happiness. The two go together. Paul said, “Whether I have a lot or a little, I have learned to be content” (Phil 4:12).
