Manage episode 298970184 series 2913302
In Volume Three: Chapter Thirteen we welcome Poet, Spoken Word Artist, Dancer, Model, and Author of the book Through the Eyes of Is0lated Beauty, Tarika Hollins.
Tarika Monique Holland, her artist name being is0latedbeauty, was born in Augusta, Georgia. Although she has been an artist nearly all her life, her true artistic journey didn't begin until she auditioned for Davidson Fine Arts. Since then, she has worked hard and persevered through many experiences that have shaped her into the artist that she is. Her artist name developed from people's misuse and overuse of the word "different" and her awareness of her own unique beauty.
Although she is at the very beginning of her artistic journey, she already has had several notable performances and accomplishments. Some of her notable piece include her self titled debut solo “is0latedbeauty” which was selected for her school’s Emerging Artist in 2017. Her second work “Solidarity” won her first place in the Psi Omega County Talent Hunt, and she advanced to the state level. She danced all throughout high school in shows such as “Evening of Dance and Jazz/Dance and Dessert”, the annual “Black History Show”, and the annual “Fine Arts Festival” She also toured with the drama department with their fall one act “A Wrinkle In Time” as a selected dancer for the movement company/ensemble as well as danced in their production of William Shakesphere’s “The Tempest.” In high school, she was also an active member of the poetry club, Unspoken Words (later Indelible Artists) and served as secretary her senior year. She also served as a teacher assistant for modern one and tap/jazz one.
