A few weeks ago I made a video about affirming strengths as part of compassion. You can see the video here. To be more accurate, that video was emphasising affirming one’s own strengths as part of self-compassion! Last week I made video about compassionate assertiveness. You can see that video here. And I realised that a part of compassionate assertiveness is acknowledging, affirming and appreciating the other person, the person with whom you are trying to be assertive. So, in today’s video, I wanted to explore that idea a little more. The role of appreciation in compassionate assertiveness, setting boundaries, and having effective conversations. [I am in Chicago at the moment, so apologies for the slightly poorer quality this week.] TARGETED PLAYLIST LINK: Compassion in a T-Shirt LINKS: If you would like to know more about compassion and self-compassion, compassion focused therapy or compassionate mind training, you may wish to check out my book, The Gifts of Compassion, available at your favourite online bookstore, such as: https://www.amazon.com.au/Gifts-Compassion-understand-overcome-suffering/dp/1925644480 Say hi on social: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/drstansteindl Twitter: https://twitter.com/StanSteindl Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dr_stan_steindl/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stan-steindl-150a5264/ Website: https://www.stansteindl.com/ YouTube Video URL: https://youtu.be/143aV7nm3VY *Affiliate Disclaimer: Note this description contains affiliate links that allow you to find the items mentioned in this video and support the channel at no cost to you.
