"Finding Faith Despite Fear" with James Petteys

Living in fear of God and battling depression and suicide James was living in complete darkness. Saying yes to a youth group would be the catalyst that brought him to understanding unconditional love and the light that lives within God's children. Love always wins, and James’ is a testament to this. Join us and hear just how James has overcome obstacles and found light in the dark.

• Grew up not knowing God the way he does now
• Spent much of his childhood avoiding go to hell- living a fear based faith
• Feeling unworthy, James was accepted into his youth group and began to feel Gods love
• James has navigated depression and suicide and it was witnessing goodness and watching believers walk out their faith that help him see light over darkness
• It's likely that those around you suffering from mental health issues, won't ask for help, so be sure to ask them if you can help
• Choosing to forgive his brother and former girlfriend, willing himself to love them both over the hurt he was navigating
• Moving to NC was one of the hardest decisions he made because life was “ok” in NY
• Even after making the decision to move to NC and pursue becoming a firefighter, he knew the only way to get where he wanted was to push through
• Put what you desire and the dreams you have in front of you- just as Abraham did (the original form of vision boards)
• Don’t quit, believe in your goal and it's worth it
• Be humble enough to ask people who have gone where you desire- learn from them
