דNo matter where you start your journey with us, we’re here to support you,” says Jeanne Duca, Chief Marketing Officer at BCN. In a rapidly evolving telecom landscape, BCN is embracing AI-driven marketing strategies to enhance engagement, streamline content creation, and reinforce its commitment to the channel. In this episode of Technology Reseller News , Jeanne Duca joins Doug Green to discuss BCN’s AI-powered marketing approach, new digital content initiatives, and the company’s latest advancements in connectivity solutions. BCN’s AI-Powered Marketing Evolution With over 30 years in the industry, BCN has built a strong reputation as a managed technology solutions provider, catering primarily to mid-market and enterprise-level businesses. Selling exclusively through the channel, BCN has eliminated channel conflict, making marketing precision and messaging consistency a top priority. To address the need for rapid content creation and enhanced engagement, BCN has integrated AI into its marketing workflow. “The use of AI tools—whether for content creation or avatars for communication—is helping us develop more, better content faster,” says Duca. “This ensures that our technology advisors receive timely, relevant insights they can leverage with their customers.” New Digital Content Initiatives BCN has launched three new content series to better engage its partner community: Beyond the Network Podcast – A thought leadership series featuring technology advisors, TSD community members, and partners discussing industry trends and best practices. Top Shelf with BCN – A relaxed, conversational series discussing emerging technologies, with the debut episode focusing on low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite solutions in partnership with Tuufi Phi. Sunday Tech Trends with BCN – A short video series on key industry trends, paired with interactive LinkedIn surveys to foster engagement and gather real-time feedback from viewers. AI-driven content strategies have helped BCN enhance employee engagement, streamline training materials, and reinforce its core messaging across all stakeholders. “Our internal messaging needs to be just as clear and consistent as our external communications,” Duca notes. “The BCN experience is built on alignment between our employees, partners, and customers.” Advancing Connectivity and Security Looking ahead to 2025, BCN is redefining connectivity to meet the growing demands of AI-driven applications and digital transformation initiatives. “Connectivity has always been at the heart of our solutions, but today, customers want it to be unbreakable and secure,” says Duca. BCN’s SD-WAN portfolio, which now includes Adaptive Networks alongside Cato, BigLeaf, Cisco Meraki, and Peplink, ensures customers have resilient, high-performance connectivity tailored to their needs. “With AI-powered applications driving unprecedented bandwidth requirements, customers need secure, redundant, and scalable solutions,” Duca adds. “Throwing more money at a problem has never solved the problem,” says Nick Foy, Founder of Silverdale. “Sometimes, the best thing you can do is stop, take a step back, and reassess.” In this episode of Technology Reseller News, Foy discusses the hidden costs of inefficient ERP systems and how companies can reclaim control of their business operations. The ERP Challenge Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are meant to streamline operations, yet many businesses find themselves struggling with slow, fragmented systems that hinder productivity. “Most people don’t call it ERP,” Foy explains. “They call it ‘the damn system’ because it’s slow, outdated, and frustrating to use.” Over time, companies build patchwork solutions—layering new systems on top of old ones—without a cohesive strategy. Kit-Bashed Systems and Hidden Costs Many organizations unknowingly sabotage themselves by adopting multiple disconnected tools. “Every business thinks they need the ‘best in breed’ for CRM, marketing, and inventory management,” Foy says. “But if those tools don’t talk to each other, you end up spending more time fixing data than running your business.” The Case for Stopping Foy advises companies to stop throwing money at broken systems and instead assess their situation. Silverdale conducts ERP audits, often finding that businesses need to start fresh. Unlike traditional consultants who bill hourly, Silverdale offers fixed-price, fixed-timeline solutions. “If a provider won’t commit to a fixed cost, run,” Foy warns. The ROI of Fixing ERP Companies that optimize their ERP systems experience increased efficiency, better decision-making, and cost savings. “Access to the right data at the right time leads to better purchasing, scheduling, and inventory management,” Foy explains. At Cloud Connections 2025 , Erotokritou will lead a roundtable discussion on navigating regulatory landscapes in cloud technology , offering providers critical insights into compliance, fraud prevention, and risk mitigation. Regulatory Crackdowns on Telecom Providers Governments worldwide are introducing stricter compliance measures to curb fraud and illegal activities. Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations , numbering resource restrictions, and privacy laws such as the GDPR are reshaping how telecom providers operate. In the U.S., the FCC recently fined a provider $1 million for transmitting a deepfake robocall mimicking President Joe Biden, highlighting the growing consequences of non-compliance. KYC & Numbering Resource Challenges Erotokritou emphasizes that KYC requirements are expanding , forcing providers to implement rigorous identity verification before offering services. These measures increase operational costs, create onboarding delays, and require new fraud prevention strategies . Meanwhile, numbering resources—essential for service delivery—are becoming harder to obtain , as regulators limit the suballocation of numbers and tighten usage restrictions. Mitigating Risk While Staying Competitive To navigate evolving compliance landscapes , providers must develop strategic regulatory frameworks that ensure adherence while preserving business efficiency and profitability . At Access Partnership , Erotokritou and her team help companies obtain telecom licenses, secure numbering resources, and implement best practices to remain compliant without sacrificing growth. 1 The Future of Telecom: Why Operational Resilience is Mission Critical – A Spirent Perspective, Podcast
Anil Kollipara “You shouldn’t wait around. You should be out there trying to break it, to fix it in advance,” says Anil Kollipara, Vice President, Product Management, Spirent. In this edition of Technology Reseller News, publisher Doug Green sits down with Anil Kollipara, Vice President, Product Management at Spirent, to discuss a critical theme in modern telecom: operational resilience. As Mobile World Congress (MWC) approaches, the industry faces growing demands for always-on, secure, and reliable networks. Kollipara explains why continuous testing, security validation, and AI-driven automation are now essential for maintaining uptime and mitigating risk. The New Reality: Why Telecoms Must Build Resilience Now With telcos under pressure to launch new services, comply with increasing regulations, and secure networks against evolving threats, operational resilience has become a business imperative. Kollipara highlights key challenges: Rising Complexity – With 5G, cloud-native architectures, Open RAN, and AI , networks are more complex than ever, spanning multiple vendors and increasing risks. Security Threats & Compliance – As attack surfaces expand , regulators are enforcing stricter security and uptime requirements, making compliance failures costly. Customer Expectations – Downtime isn’t an option . Even a short service disruption can lead to frustration, revenue loss, and customer churn . Why Traditional Testing Fails Kollipara explains that traditional telecom testing models are outdated . Many operators still assume their vendors will handle testing , which is no longer a viable approach. Recent real-world incidents, such as supply chain vulnerabilities , have cost companies hundreds of millions in losses . He emphasizes that telcos must own their testing process and adopt a zero-trust change management approach: Proactive vs. Reactive Testing – Instead of waiting for failures, operators should continuously test, stress, and break their networks in controlled environments before customers feel the impact. Continuous Testing Pipeline – A lab-to-live methodology ensures that networks are resilient at every stage—from pre-launch simulations to real-time service monitoring . Security & AI-Driven Automation – AI-powered fault detection, remediation, and security testing can predict and prevent outages before they occur. The ROI of Continuous Testing While continuous testing may seem costly, the return on investment (ROI) is undeniable . Kollipara outlines key benefits: Massive Cost Avoidance – Avoid fines, legal costs, and customer losses from regulatory non-compliance or service disruptions. Operational Efficiency – AI and automation reduce reliance on manual testing , cutting costs while increasing accuracy and speed. Customer Retention & Revenue Growth – A more reliable network leads to higher customer satisfaction, reduced churn, and new monetization opportunities . Trends to Watch at Mobile World Congress As MWC 2025 kicks off, AI-driven testing, cloud-native resilience, and next-gen security strategies will be major talking points. 1 Subscription Complexity & Customer Loyalty: CSG’s Chad Dunavant on the Future of Monetization, Podcast
"We’ve moved from big bundles to à la carte chaos—there’s a middle ground that offers real value and differentiation," says Chad Dunavant, EVP & Chief Strategy and Product Officer at CSG. Subscription-based services have reshaped the way businesses generate revenue and how consumers engage with brands. But has the explosion of subscriptions created more frustration than convenience? Chad joins Technology Reseller News to discuss the next evolution of subscriptions, telecom monetization, and customer engagement. The Subscription Economy: A Double-Edged Sword Subscription models provide businesses with predictable, recurring revenue streams, allowing them to scale efficiently. Consumers originally embraced subscriptions for their flexibility and ease of use. However, as Dunavant points out, many customers now find themselves drowning in multiple subscriptions, leading to frustration, bill confusion, and declining brand loyalty. From Bundles to Fragmentation – The shift from cable TV mega-bundles to fragmented streaming services has created consumer fatigue. Confusion & Lack of Transparency – Many customers are unaware of price increases or struggle to manage multiple services. Loyalty at Risk – Brands must balance monetization with clear value propositions or risk losing long-term customers. Telecoms & The New Opportunity in Subscription Monetization As telecom providers move beyond connectivity, they are uniquely positioned to bundle value-added services like streaming, cloud solutions, and enterprise tools. Dunavant highlights how telcos can use their scale to negotiate wholesale partnerships with digital service providers, creating discounted, frictionless experiences for consumers. "Every purchase is emotional—whether it's B2B, B2C, or B2B2B," says Jamie Schwarz, founder of BrandTherapy.coach. In a conversation with Doug Green, publisher of Technology Reseller News, Schwarz explains how brand identity, authenticity, and emotional resonance shape purchasing decisions—even in highly technical industries. What is Brand Therapy? Schwarz, a former creative director at major NYC ad agencies, discovered that traditional branding strategies often led to hypocrisy—brands saying one thing but doing another. Instead of just creating aesthetic identities and taglines, he developed Brand Therapy, a coaching-based approach that helps businesses: Define their true mission & purpose – Ensuring their branding aligns authentically with their business values. Develop a “brand voice” – Creating an internal dialogue that guides decision-making across all departments. Maintain continuous product-market fit – Positioning the brand as an evolving entity that stays relevant as customer needs change. "Your brand should act as your Chief Purpose Officer—guiding decisions, messaging, and product evolution," says Schwarz. B2B Branding: More Important Than Ever Many believe branding is less relevant in the B2B world, especially for companies selling complex technology solutions like UCaaS, CPaaS, and cloud services. However, Schwarz challenges this assumption, explaining that even engineers and technical buyers make emotional purchasing decisions. "B2B sales have changed. Buyers do their own research now, often using AI. If your brand isn’t actively shaping the conversation, AI will do it for you," Schwarz warns. Trust & Security – Buyers need to feel safe about their decisions, especially in critical technology investments. Personal Pride – Decision-makers want credit for bringing in the best solution to their company. Relational Media – The rise of AI-powered customer interactions means brands are always in conversation—whether they realize it or not. Conversational AI: The Brand Voice You Didn’t Know You Had One of the most overlooked branding challenges today is AI-powered customer interactions. Many companies deploy AI chatbots without realizing they are creating a persistent brand voice. "AI is your brand voice—whether you planned for it or not. Companies must proactively define how they want to sound, feel, and interact," says Schwarz. Every AI-driven conversation is an interaction with your brand. The brand’s “tone of voice” now lives in automated conversations. Companies must align AI, sales, and marketing messages to maintain trust. Shifting the Focus: Selling Benefits, Not Features For marketing teams preparing their big 2024 and 2025 product announcements, Schwarz offers a critical mindset shift: Don’t announce what your product does. Announce how it helps the customer. Avoid technical jargon—highlight how the solution will make the buyer’s life easier. Tell a story where the customer is the hero, not the brand. "Your big announcement is not about you. It’s about how the customer benefits. Frame it that way, and you’ll make a bigger impact," Schwarz advises. Brand Therapy: A Coaching Approach to Branding Unlike traditional branding agencies that focus on external storytelling, Brand Therapy takes a coaching-based approach, guiding businesses through deep brand exploration. Sessions with brand stewards to define mission, purpose, and voice. Long-term alignment to ensure brand authenticity. Tactical advice on messaging, sales enablement, and AI integration. "Don’t just tell a story. Live it. Your brand needs to be authentic in action, not just in messaging," says Schwarz. Regulatory & Technical Barriers – The shift requires compliance with state and federal rules, plus retraining a workforce where institutional knowledge is fading. "We’re tackling one of the biggest challenges in telecom—migrating carriers away from copper while ensuring stability and compliance," says Francis. AI’s Role in Telecom: Efficiency, Not Disruption AI will make carriers more efficient, but adoption will be slow due to regulatory concerns and potential service disruptions. Risk vs. Reward – AI-driven automation must be implemented cautiously to avoid major failures in carrier networks. Fifth Industrial Revolution – The telecom sector must balance innovation with reliability. "AI adoption in telecom will take time—it’s too risky to disrupt carrier operations overnight," says Francis. Network-as-a-Service: The New Carrier Model Traditional Carrier Model is Fading – Carriers are moving away from fully owning infrastructure. Managed Services & "As-a-Service" Offerings – 46 Labs provides turnkey network solutions, allowing carriers to outsource complex network transitions. Security Considerations – With increased IP-based connectivity, security threats rise, requiring encryption and network segmentation strategies. What’s Ahead for Large Enterprises? The move away from copper is a global trend, impacting large enterprises, airlines, and pharmaceutical companies. International Voice Connectivity – Enterprises must take a holistic approach to voice and telecom strategies. The second half of the 5G era is here, and the next five years will define its success. “5G has reached the halftime mark—five years since its launch, with another five years until 6G arrives. The second half is all to play for,” says Stephen Douglas, Head of Market Strategy at Spirent. In this episode of Technology Reseller News, host Doug Green sits down with Douglas to discuss the findings of Spirent’s 2025 5G Report, which draws insights from over 415 engagements with global operators, suppliers, governments, and enterprises. The report reveals where 5G has succeeded, where it has fallen short, and the key technologies driving growth for the next five years. The Road So Far: 5G’s First Half 5G deployments have expanded rapidly, with over 340 commercial non-standalone (NSA) networks worldwide and 2.1 billion users. However, revenue growth has lagged behind expectations, largely due to the staggered rollout of 5G capabilities. Many operators have focused on building out infrastructure rather than launching monetizable services. One notable exception? 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), which has emerged as the biggest commercial success of 5G’s first half. With over 162 global launches, FWA has provided an alternative to fiber, enabling broadband expansion in rural and urban markets alike. The Second Half: The Push for Monetization For operators, the next five years will be defined by one goal: turning 5G into a revenue-generating machine. The key enablers of this shift include: 5G Standalone (SA): Only 64 operators have launched full 5G SA networks so far. That number is expected to surge to 160+ in the next three years, unlocking new revenue streams. Enterprise Solutions: Telcos are pivoting away from consumer-driven revenue models and toward high-value enterprise services, including private networks, industrial IoT, and AI-powered automation. Cloud-Native Evolution: 5G core networks are transitioning to cloud-native architectures, allowing for rapid scaling, automation, and seamless software updates. AI-Optimized Networks: AI traffic is becoming a major factor in network planning. Operators are investing in differentiated services, prioritizing AI-powered applications alongside traditional connectivity. Future Game-Changers Beyond 2025, several emerging technologies will redefine telecom’s role: Reduced Capability IoT (RedCap): Lightweight, low-power 5G IoT devices will fuel growth in smart manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics. 5G-V2X for Automotive Safety: Governments are pushing for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology to enhance road safety and optimize traffic systems. 5G-Enabled Drones: Future 5G networks will provide reliable, beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) connectivity for commercial drones. Augmented Reality Glasses: The race is on to bring affordable, lightweight AR glasses to mass markets, potentially creating a multi-billion-dollar opportunity. The Clock is Ticking As operators look ahead, the pressure is on to make 5G a true business success. Spirent anticipates a surge in standalone 5G rollouts, new enterprise-driven services, and innovative use cases that will reshape the telecom landscape.
