RadioStPeteINSIDER correspondent Deb Carson announces an incredible opportunity for both emerging and established artists and tells us about a new show at the Florida Craft Art Gallery in downtown St. Pete. Florida Craft Art‘s 27th Annual Festival’s Call for Fine Craft Artists is open. Held in downtown St. Pete this juried festival with cash awards will be held 11/23-24, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Established artists who are interested in applying for the 27th annual Florida Craft Art, application deadline is August 1. Fine craft artists from Florida, the U.S. or anywhere working in the mediums of clay, fiber, glass, metal, jewelry, mixed media, or wood are eligible to apply. High quality, original artwork will be considered for jury. Paintings, drawings, photography and/or commercially made works are NOT eligible. EMERGING FINE CRAFT ARTISTS. Listen up have until August 31 to apply and be considered for selection as a SPONSORED EMERGING ARTIST in the November Florida Craft Art Festival. If you are selected as an Emerging Artist for the festival, your sponsorship package, valued at $1,000 includes your booth (tent set-up with table and chair), a business mentoring session with a well- established, collected artist, a daily lunch stipend, a professionally photographed headshot and photos of your artwork, professionally printed postcards to promote yourself and work, and you will keep 100% of your sales. You must be over age 18, and be at the beginning of your professional artist career; a Florida resident who lives here at least 6 months of the year and you have not participated in an outdoor art festival and have never had a solo show (unless it was an academic or university show). Currently on exhibit at the Florida Craft Art gallery is “Splash,’ a water-themed show features many ArtLofts artists who invite us into a world of all-things water including mermaids, fish, swimmers. You can even have your picture taken with a MER-MAN. The artists of Artlofts on the floors just above the Florida Craft Art gallery, are located at 501 Central Avenue in downtown St. Pete.
