S2E22: Decoding Heaux: What is a "Heaux"?

Dear Listeners,

Let me break the 4th wall, real quick, Jay here.

As I was preparing this episode where Kim and I go into the concept of heuxism and what it means to be a heaux, bringing up different scenarios in the quick chat, agreeing that a woman who is liberated and truly free will never be a heaux, taking time to acknowledge how our perspectives have changed with our experiences, and chatting about our perspective with our parenting of our daughters: This is where I want to stop and pause.

This episode, for me, works as an archive of auditory history and as I was editing, I couldn't help but want this episode to be something my daughter hears when the time is appropriate. I want her to hear herself reflected in the chat we recorded. But most of all, I want her to know that she is a powerful woman (bc she will be an adult when she listens to this >.<) despite what society is spewing at her.

Now, another disclaimer: today's posting is on her birthday; which is probably why I have her extra heavy on my mind. *sniffles*

With that in mind, I want to send her future self a note as she listens to this:

Dear D,

I pray you never let the world make you doubt your power.

I pray that you know I got you forever and a day.

I pray you are certain that your happiness is

worth your weight in gold plus N + 1.

I pray that you know that you are in charge of your path,

your love, and your joy.

May you be blessed with experiences that bring you

excitement, creativity, and adventure.

May the Universe watch over you, guide you,

to your purpose and to your best self.

May you always feel my love,

& most of all, may you always feel that you are

cared for, honored, appreciated, and valued.

May God keep you always.
