Trenčín, a charming city in Western Slovakia, is gearing up to become the European Capital of Culture in 2026. However, planners have identified a significant gap in participation among residents of different generations. To bridge this divide and ensure that every voice is represented, the 2026 team launched an innovative initiative called Generácie spolu (Generations Together). RSI visited Trenčín on the final day of this weeklong project to engage with its participants. In the second half of the show we help you plan your summer holiday with two reports on visiting Slovakia’s vast natural landscapes. First, we speak with Matej about his website snptrail.com, a place where English speakers can find vital information on Slovakia’s only thru-hiking trail. Then we speak with Iveta Buraľová, Poloniny National Park’s environmental education officer, to uncover the treasures of this unique natural paradise.
