It was a rainy day in March of 1972 when eight-year-old Douglas Owens was running errands. He would never make it back from this outing. That day his body would be found on a rooftop just two blocks from his home in Harlem, New York City. The young boy had been stabbed 38 times. His shoes were missing, and the wounds were apparent over his neck, chest, and back. Most horrifyingly, his genitals had been slashed so viciously that it was attached to his body by but a single bloody flap of skin. When it comes to killers, those who target children are considered the most evil, even by fellow criminals; however, when it comes to the crimes of this murderer, they are beyond abhorrent. The Doodler is an unidentified serial killer believed responsible for between six and sixteen murders and three assaults of men in San Francisco, California, between January 1974 and September 1975. The nickname was given due to the perpetrator's habit of sketching his victims prior to stabbing them to death.
