BIO:
Shira Helena Gitlin (they/them) is a trans nonbinary director, dramaturg, gender consultant, and musical theatre enthusiast. They have held Trans Inclusion workshops for Dramatists Guild, National Women’s Theatre Festival, Directors Lab North, and various theatres and institutions across the United States. They are also a member of the Gender Explosion Initiative. They are currently the gender consultant on multiple shows including two new musicals, Psyche and Millennials are Killing Musicals. *The trans community is being vilified politically through a series of proposed bills and bans which would limit access to medical care, censor performances and literature and would out trans children to their parents. One thing you can do to help the trans community is to register to vote and to contact your local representatives to communicate the harm this will enact.
