Beth Shannon leads the crew through a therapeutic rage session about life's most irritating moments in this hilarious episode. What's Bothering Us: * 📱 People who answer the phone to say they can't talk * 🚘 Bad drivers who should be removed from the road (Shelley has plans) * 👖 Women's jeans with useless pockets * 👓 The on-again-off-again glasses struggle * 🍽️ Dishwasher loading/unloading etiquette (bottom rack first!) * 🗣️ Speech patterns that drive us crazy: "kind of," "so...," "right?" * 🚶♀️ Sidewalk and airport traffic management problems * 🎭 Virgin River's impossible timeline (5 months = 4 seasons) Plus: Jim's mice visitors with no boundaries, toilet paper theft between family members, Renaissance Fair cosplay, and Beth's detailed rules for kitchen etiquette that nobody asked for but everyone must follow. The episode wraps with a touching story from Beth about a positive encounter during Trans Visibility Day that reminded her that despite life's annoyances, connecting with others is what truly matters. Recorded April 2025 Jim, John, Beth, Peggy, and Shelley prove once again that complaining together is the best form of therapy! #PetPeeves #VirginRiver #BadDrivers #DishwasherWars #InSearchOfAnArgument…

In this episode, we dive deep into life's "what if" moments - those sliding doors decisions that send us spinning down wildly different paths. Trust us, these stories are wilder than the singing waiters who ambushed Jim at that Broadway-adjacent restaurant (more on that later!). Join us as Shelly reveals how crashing one questionable small-town Indiana party (featuring a character genuinely nicknamed "Buckwheat") launched her into genetics, world travel, and somehow led to all of us! Meanwhile, Beth shares how narrowly she missed becoming a Croatian expat with a fictional French boyfriend (who definitely would have had great teeth, because standards). Along the way, we explore: Shelly's accidental path from teenage rebellion to medical career (thanks, disapproving teacher parents!) John's powerful story about a doctor who changed everything with just three words Beth's non-negotiable dating criteria (spoiler: intelligence and dental hygiene feature heavily) Jim's ongoing campaign for immortality (because his FOMO extends beyond death) The great Chicago dating chronicles (Shelly promises there's a book coming... eventually) Plus, we tackle the eternal question: Is it really a regret if it led you exactly where you needed to be? Connect With Us Found yourself nodding along or yelling "that happened to me!" at your podcast player? We want to hear about it! Find us exclusively on Blue Sky (we're streamlining for 2024, darlings), where we share deep thoughts, shallow thoughts, and Jim's restaurant reviews (spoiler: avoid anywhere with singing waiters). Support the Show : Leave us a review, support us on Patreon , or buy us a coffee (at a silent establishment, please). We promise to use any funds for caffeine and not time machines to explore our alternate timelines. Stay Connected : Subscribe so you don't miss our next episode! Maybe we'll finally get that chapter from Shelly's mysterious novel, or hear about Beth's Croatian road not taken (though her fictional French boyfriend is still waiting). Fun Fact : This episode was recorded while Peggy was living her best alternate timeline (or doing laundry - we'll never know!). We're pretty sure her biggest regret is missing this conversation. P.S. Special thanks to Chef Boyardee pizza for being the culinary touchstone of Shelly's small-town Indiana youth. Sometimes the roads not taken are paved with canned Italian food. 🍕 "What if" moments discussed: several Broadway show tunes performed by waiters: too many Regrets expressed by Jim: all of them French boyfriends manifested: zero (so far) Join us for an hour of warmth, wisdom, and wondering about the paths not taken – while being pretty darn grateful for the ones we chose.…

For the first time since May 29, 2021, we are dropping a new episode. Why? Because the last three plus weeks have been among the most bizarre and stressful in the history of American politics. At 1:45 PM EDT on July 21, 2024, Joe Biden put an end to the dread that many Democrats were experiencing by dropping out of the presidential race little more than 100 days before the election. Six and one-half hours later we were recording this episode. We could not get everyone together for the discussion, but John and Jim cover a range of sub-topics related to the forthcoming battle for the presidency. Here's hoping we are back with another episode soon (sooner than 3 years anyway) and that Peggy, Shelly, and Beth are back as well!…
John is still away on his approved sabbatical but Peggy is just AWOL. (The Court of Inquiry is considering a suitable punishment for her). Beth and Jim are left to serve as Shelly’s interlocutors as she demonstrates her mastery of all facets of the human genome. The conversation varies from the scientific to the philosophical (nature vs. nurture) to the intensely personal. It is likely to increase the endorphin levels of anyone who listens.…
