Dr. Michael Miller was with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta for 35 years until his retirement. After the anthrax attack in Washington DC, for five years he led the development and operation of the Laboratory Response Network - the LRN- a consortium of the nation’s reference laboratories for the detection and confirmation of agents of bioterrorism. He served as the Chief Science officer for a major infectious disease center that was responsible for CDC’s responses to all foodborne, vector-borne, enteric, water-borne, zoonotic, and most viral diseases, healthcare associated infections, and bioterrorism laboratories.
