Manage episode 332414057 series 3303061
Today Matt is live at the Mendocino County Jail where he spent the week helping inmates to build a donated 8'x24' American Coop.
The Unconditional Freedom Project contacted Carolina Coops a few months back asking us to be a part of the restorative justice program at the jail.
Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendall was instrumental in getting this program to the jail. He is a fan and fellow chicken keeper. Through the program, inmates will learn about gardening, growing food, chicken keeping, and now building a chicken coop.
Matt speaks with Marissa Ward, program manager from the nonprofit and Kate Feigin, who is a restorative justice program manager at the county jail.
The Unconditional Freedom Project is a nonprofit that aims to restore dignity to the most outcast members of society. They focus on the incarcerated, the homeless and the addicted. We were honored to be a part of this inspiration program. The nonprofit is making a documentary about this experience at the jail.
