Not only do I treasure her as a part of my Death Family, I adore her as a deeply compassionate friend and beautifully talented poet.

Naila is using her writing and her love of poetry as a form of spiritual alchemy, without judgement, without platitudes, without expectation, she offers her thoughts and her vulnerability and kindness.

Whenever, I feel salty about the world, I remember she exists, and one day hopefully soon we will meet and hug and have tea.

Grief is that much more difficult during the holidaze!

Please take good care of yourself, your boundaries, and remember you are not alone, we are all dealing with grief in one way or another, and it sucks!

Grief totally suckkkkkks, and yet it is very transformative when you surrender to it, and give it your respect. We are so conditioned to ignoring grief, or burying it, and then like a ghost or a demon it haunts us, until we acknowledge that it's there and it will most likely always be a part of our lives. In this conversation Naila reads one of her own incredible poems and it is a beautiful gift to have someone so generous and courageous in our midst. As a writer myself, I hardly ever share my poetry, and when I discovered her one day last year, my heart was filled with warmth of admiration and inspiration. Who knows maybe one day I will share my own poetry????
