Barry J. Jacobs, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist, family therapist, and Principal for Health Management Associates, a national healthcare consulting firm. He is the author of The Emotional Survival Guide for Caregivers (Guilford, 2006) and coauthor (with his wife, Julia L. Mayer, Psy.D.) of AARP Meditations for Caregivers (Da Capo, 2016) and Love and Meaning After 50 (Hachette, 2029). Since 2013, he has been writing a self-help column for family caregivers for AARP.org. Since 2005, he has given over 700 regional, national, and international presentations on caregiving.
