In today's video, Andrew Iacobelli of Iacobelli Law Firm interviews Brian Tsui, an articling student at his Ontario law firm. Initially drawn to tax law by an inspiring professor, Brian's career trajectory shifted to personal injury law following the unexpected passing of his mentor. Brian delves into his articling experience, highlighting the pivotal role of mentorship, the transferable skills from tax law to personal injury law, and the daily duties of an articling student.
Brian is presently a lawyer-candidate articling at Iacobelli Law Firm. He assists injury victims in matters involving serious motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, wrongful death claims, municipal liability, insurance disputes, nursing home negligence, dog bites, and other injury claims.
Brian earned his Juris Doctor degree from Queen's University, where he had the opportunity to work with the Conflict Analytics Lab. There, he was able to merge his interests in law and data science, using machine learning as a tool for dispute resolution.
Before attending law school, Brian received his Honours Bachelor's degree in Global Business and Digital Arts from the University of Waterloo. He broadened his understanding of business management during an exchange term at the University of Hong Kong. Furthermore, Brian is fluent in both English and Cantonese.
When he's not at work, Brian is likely to be found on the golf course. He is a former member of the Queen’s golf team and remains an active supporter, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his old teammates.
