We explore the native peoples who once inhabited the area, the strategic military significance of the islands and the reasons behind the U.S. claim, the construction of Fort Jefferson, shipwrecks and sunken treasure, how the fort in linked to the assassination of a president, and other fascinating history of the park. Fort Jefferson is a massive structure!
