Hey there, beach bums! It's time for your New York surf zone forecast brought to you by the National Weather Service in New York. So, let's dive in and catch that wave, shall we?
Starting off with Kings (Brooklyn), where we've got a high rip current risk until 6 PM. Surf height is around 3 feet, with cloudy weather and a chance of rain. The surf temperature is in the upper 60s, and the winds are coming from the east at about 15 miles per hour.
Moving over to Southern Queens, including Jacob Riis Park and Rockaway Beach, we have the same conditions - high rip current risk, 3-foot surf height, and temperatures in the upper 60s. Winds here are a bit stronger at 15 to 20 miles per hour from the east.
Now, onto Southern Nassau with Atlantic Beach and Long Beach. The story remains the same - high rip current risk, 3-foot surf height, and east winds at 15 to 20 miles per hour. Remember your sunscreen as the UV Index is low today!
Heading to Southwestern Suffolk with Gilgo State Park and Robert Moses State Park. Here, the rip currents are high, with a 3-foot surf height and temperatures in the upper 60s. Expect winds from the east around 20 miles per hour, so hold onto your hats!
Lastly, in Southeastern Suffolk, covering Smith Point and Cupsogue Beach, we have a high rip current risk, 4-foot surf height, and mostly cloudy skies with a chance of rain. The surf temperature is in the mid-60s, and the winds are coming from the east at around 15 miles per hour.
Remember, folks, safety first! If you decide to hit the waves, watch out for those rip currents, have a flotation device handy, and swim near a lifeguard. And hey, remember to relax, float, and not fight the current if you get caught in one.
