Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. (Psalm 25:4-5, ESV)
This psalm captures David’s earnest desire to walk in step with God, expressed through a humble request, deep dependence on truth, and patient trust. In verse 4, David acknowledges his need for divine direction, praying for God to teach him His ways and paths. These signify not only God’s commands but also His sovereign plan, reflecting a heart willing to submit to God’s wisdom. In verse 5, the plea to “lead me in your truth” underscores the sufficiency of God’s Word to guide and sustain, as David recognizes that God’s truth is the only path to life and salvation. Finally, the phrase “for you I wait all the day long” highlights trust and perseverance, reminding us that following God’s path often requires faith and patience as His plans unfold in His perfect timing.
