The Panthers enter the draft with Shaq Thompson and Josey Jewell slated to be their starters at the two insider linebacker spots but both of those players will be 30 by the end of the 2024 season. Is it time to find a long-term option in the middle of the Panthers defense?

Hillsborough native Payton Wilson concluded a stellar career at NC State by being named a unanimous All-American, first-team All-ACC, and ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He also won the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top linebacker, and the Chuck Bednarik Award, which honors college football's best defensive player. But Wilson comes with an extensive injury history dating back to high school, which could have an impact on his draft stock. Should Wilson be the Panthers top option at LB?
